Coffee machines have not only grown in popularity, but have become much more sophisticated that the early models of old.

Today, you can program a coffee machine for early morning breakfast; utilize gourmet coffee machines to make a tasty cup of espresso or cappuccino; or use a simpler coffee machine wherein you can have a cup of java at any time of the day.

It is currently estimated that there are over 100 million cups of coffee drunk every day. In fact, the U.S. and Scandinavia boast the highest amount of coffee usage. Although percolators have almost been replaced by drip coffee machines, there are still individuals who utilize the former rather than the latter.

There may be a variety of reasons why some households still choose percolators over coffee machines. It may be that some drip coffee machines to not maintain heat as well; or perhaps automatic coffee machines turn off at a certain point; or there is a problem with the decanter; or it may be that having a percolated cup of coffee tastes somewhat better than that which comes from a coffee machine.

Whatever the reason, today you can find coffee machines for a variety of households; from one cup to ten cups or more. In today’s economy, however, prices of food, milk, and especially coffee have risen. When you add to this the fact that many years ago drinking several cups of coffee was not considered a healthy part of one’s diet regimen; today the tide has turned once again and coffee is considered a good thing.

Coffee machines brought the emergence of flavored coffees from around the world. Though quite high in cost, nonetheless, individuals flocked to these coffee houses to have a cup of this rich brew. At the same time, percolators and drip coffee machines would continue to be used in households.

However, many of the well-known coffee houses who charged an exorbitant amount of money for a cup of coffee have now turned towards decreasing the cost due to an economic recession. Although individuals still choose to forgo making a cup of java at home and prefer, instead, to buy a cup of coffee on their way to work. Others, on the other hand, choose not to buy a can or bag of coffee but rather buy a cup at their local convenience store or coffee house.

It seemed inevitable, then, that because there are millions of people who drink coffee that technology needed to take a giant leap forward in order to accommodate coffee drinkers at large and offer a coffee machine that could be programmed to do everything except serve.

For those who still own percolators and who refuse to spend a handsome sum of money to purchase coffee machines, take heart. Percolators are still available, although you may need to research the internet to find them.

When budgets are getting tighter, decorating or updating your home may get put on the back burner. Luckily, there are lots of contests, sweepstakes, and giveaways out there that feature fabulous items to keep your home looking fresh and running strong. Though our tastes tend to be a bit too discerning for most of the décor items available in giveaways, there are plenty of gadgets that we’d welcome in our home (and some chic items if you look hard enough). And with entry forms now conveniently on the internet, a click of the mouse gives you a chance to win, making it easy to enter multiple contests without spending much time or money. But just because a product is free doesn’t mean it’s right for your home. Read on and see how to find the items you can really use.

GO FOR NO-FAIL PRIZES

Home Appliances

While you might have to be a little picky about décor, newer technology is always welcome—especially when it’s free of cost. Unlike a particular accent rug that might not be right for every house and every person, appliances, which are chosen for function rather than form, are a great option. Floor care items such as vacuum cleaners and carpet steamers, outdoor goods like lawn mowers and grills, and bigger items like washers and dryers are all spectacular wins. When looking for prizes, try to enter sweepstakes for the items that you actually need. Many of these products cost hundreds of dollars if not more—not having to buy them may free up some cash for you to splurge a little on décor that might not have been in your budget before.

Kitchen Goods

Keep an eye out for any items for the kitchen. Smaller items like cutting boards, pots and pans, and handheld utensils may have fewer sweepstakes entries because they have a lower total value, which could increase your chances of winning. Or, look out for fun items you might not buy for yourself, like a margarita mixer, a cappuccino machine, or an ice cream maker. While they aren’t necessities, goods like these can be a great addition to the kitchen and make entertaining more fun—just make sure you have ample counter or cabinet space.

Electronics

A flat-screen TV, DVD player, high-quality sound system, or a new computer will fit right in, no matter what your style. Again, snagging these big-ticket items for free may allow you to spend more money elsewhere, maybe even on a beautiful armoire!

THE TIME TO BE PICKY

Consider your existing décor

When moving onto more stylized items like furnishings, pillows, rugs, draperies, or home accents, do a little editing. If your dining room is modern and contemporary, a sweepstakes for a chintzy floral tablecloth might not be your best bet. If you have a bedroom dominated in soft neutrals and warm earth tones, consider that color scheme when entering sweepstakes. An exception? Linens. Items like towels and sheets are going to come in handy when hosting guests even if they don’t match perfectly.

Select brands you know

With home décor, always consider quality. If it seems like there’s a lot to navigate, look for names you know and retailers you trust. It’s hard to learn much from a small picture online or a short description, but if you’ve always been happy with Lenox tableware or Ralph Lauren bedding, it’s likely that you will continue to be impressed. Similarly, look for smaller items from trustworthy brands rather than large pieces from ones you don’t know. These are the things that will last and continue to make you happy for years, instead of ending up shoved in the back of a closet or taking up space in the attic.

Look where you read

Many home design magazines and web sites sponsor their own giveaways and sweepstakes. These items are often from the same brands that are featured on the pages of these magazines or on their web sites, and reflect the design sensibility of the publication. So if you don’t know where to start, think of the decorating sites you love the best, and go there. It’s likely that their sweepstakes will be right on target with your personal style. Click on the link below for a list of our editorial giveaways.

DARE TO DREAM

There are dream house makeovers that offer winners the funds to redo their entire home or create their ideal haven. Sure it’s a long shot, but in this economy, it can’t hurt to try. And even if you don’t win, just thinking about your perfect house could inspire a few ideas, and a lot of creativity, so when you do have the funds to do a little decorating, you’ll know exactly where to start.

You are on a bed and breakfast package and being a lover of Coffee, decide to order the Cappuccino rather than the normal fare at the Breakfast table. Before the steward has even taken the order, out pops the ‘Its chargeable’.

Wikipedia describes a Cappuccino as an Italian coffee-based drink prepared with espresso, milk and milk foam. It describes coffee as being made from coffee beans, milk and water. Basically, the same only different preparations. So then why is one free with the breakfast buffet and the other chargeable. Oh I say, perhaps we are paying for the ‘Imported’ Italian beans in the Cappuccino. Well I can tell you one thing – Coffee beans in India are anything but imported. Then we must be paying for the ‘Oh so expensive’ machinery that makes the Cappuccino. Ha ha! I wonder how many cups of coffee that would take. Maybe hotels should charge for the Marmalade and butter too. Just something extra to add to the ‘coffee machine kitty’. And finally, labour costs are so expensive and its so hard to find good people these days – so perhaps every little bit counts towards getting that perfect cup of cappuccino.

The experience of sipping a nice cup of Cappuccino beats anything I might eat off the breakfast table. And yes, I admit it – There is an addict hidden somewhere in that statement. So how nice is the ‘experience’ hoteliers keep talking about when with every fresh cup you want to consume, you are first reminded of the ‘C’ word ‘Shhh… Chargeable’. Its actually very kind of the hotel to remind you to check your wallet. Just in case you are running short of money to pay for the cuppa, never mind that the hotel room is costing you close to 15K (in Indian rupees) a night.

Perhaps the fault is ours. There were no protests when the extra bed charges were introduced. Oh the room is the same but the labour costs of getting the wheeled bed into the room have to be taken care of and luckily this is only 1/4th the room charge – usually. No protests, when on an inclusive dinner package, you are told (‘warned’) that you may consume the meat dishes (‘lucky you’) but not touch the seafood on the buffet (‘lest you get charged extra’). Or the liquor package where only house brands are included, whatever that means though I am seriously inclined to believe that this is the hotels innovative way of disposing of old stock (anyone heard of a staff party as a better option). Wow, and doesn’t all this service make us feel extra ‘Special’.

Anyone wondering why leisure travel numbers into India are diminishing. Perhaps the ‘Incredibleness’ of the Indian experience is finally beginning to wear thin amongst all these additional hand-outs required at every turn despite the not so cheap hotel room tariffs …

Coffee pots are the best help one can get when serving coffee to guests or numerous family members. Presently, there are all sorts of items that even preserve the coffee warm for several hours; thus such coffee pots are ideal to be used both at home or at work. They come in various models and designs from the very classical, porcelain made ones to the most sophisticated thermo-resistant types. The most popular kinds of coffee pots are called percolators and they are usually made of metal; such vessels can be kept directly on the stove, and due to a very practical mechanism, fresh coffee is brewed and kept warm.

However, we need to make the distinction between the coffee pots used for brewing coffee and those in which it can be served. If the former needs to be made of metal only, the latter also allows the use of plastic, porcelain or glass as well. Though plastic may be cheaper, the recommendation would definitely go for coffee pots made of porcelain or glass since they are the most likely to preserve the purity of taste and flavor, not to mention that they are completely neutral materials.

The perfect coffee pots can sometimes be difficult to find given the large variety of coffee makers, brewers and cappuccino machines; after all, what is it that truly makes a good cup of coffee? Until the moment you pour coffee in the coffee pots, there is a long way of flavor building, and it often starts with the quality of the water one uses. Bottled or spring water could be the right choice to use in brewing coffee pots, as the level of purity is 99% in such cases. Two tablespoonfuls of coffee make the correct amount to use for every six ounces of water you add in the coffee pot; thus the coffee will be neither too weak or too strong.

In the absence of coffee pots that keep the coffee warm, it is not advisable to reheat the remaining coffee, since the flavor is susceptible to rapid deterioration. For instance, some people re-heat their coffee in the microwave, but there will be very little left to savor. As a general rule, no matter how special coffee pots you may use, within approximately thirty minutes after it’s made, coffee already starts to lose the great taste you expect from this popular drink.

While coffee-based beverages remain as popular as ever, more Americans are looking for a do-it-yourself way to enjoy high-end coffee bar style cappuccino and espresso drinks at home. Fortunately, there are many affordable products on the market to assist the home brewing enthusiast in their quest for the ultimate coffee concoction. Regardless of which product you choose, there are endless recipes and combinations of ingredients to literally spice up your daily infusion.

First you need choose the basis of your beverage: coffee or espresso. Coffee can be drip-brewed, percolated, instant or cold-pressed. Any of these methods are very inexpensive. An espresso-based beverage is more likely to satisfy the sophisticated palette of the coffee connoisseur. To do this at home however, requires more of an investment in the brewing equipment. Real espresso machines cost upwards of $1,000. An affordable and popular alternative are the single-serving type of machines such as the Tassimo, where you invest in the machine and purchase pre-portioned packages of espresso varieties to brew a serving at a time.

Still confused about the difference between coffee and espresso? Espresso is a method, first originated in Italy, of extracting flavor from the heart of the coffee bean. The technique employs a pump-driven machine to force hot water through the ground coffee beans at high pressure in a short time frame — usually between 20 and 35 seconds. The amount of water used is only about ¾ of an ounce, and the resulting taste is described as smooth, thick, rich or sweet. So the obvious differences between coffee and espresso are 1) the amount of water used and 2) brewing or pressing time. Coffee is generally brewed for 4 to 6 minutes depending on the method and individual preferences.

Cappuccino is espresso mixed with equal parts of steamed and frothed milk. If you don’t purchase an espresso machine with milk-steaming capabilities, you will have to steam and froth your milk the old-fashioned way — on a stove. The frothing process involves skimming and stirring the hot milk. To layer the milk and espresso, allow the freshly frothed milk a moment to rest and separate (foam on top and milk on the bottom). Pour the steamed milk into your cup first, then pour in the espresso, and top it with the frothed milk using a spoon.

The creative possibilities go on from there. One of the most popular twists on the cappuccino is adding a sprinkle of powdered cocoa or cinnamon. Other combinations take their inspiration from favorite foods such as traditional desserts or candy bars. Try these super-easy recipes or experiment with making your own!

Milky Way Cappuccino– 2 shots espresso, 1 shot chocolate syrup, 1 shot caramel

Java Chai Espresso — 1 shot espresso, prepared chai concentrate, steamed milk, ½ ounce almond syrup

Cafe Corretto — 2 shots espresso, 1 shot brandy, cognac or flavored liqueur

Cafe Romano– 1 shot espresso, served with a twist of lemon or lemon peel

Rocky Road Cappuccino — 1 serving of your prepared cappuccino, 1 tablespoon hazelnut liqueur, 1 tablespoon chocolate sauce, 1 teaspoon of marshmallow crème and ¼ teaspoon finely chopped nuts

Butterscotch Creme Cafe — 1 serving coffee, 3 tablespoons butterscotch syrup, 2 tablespoons of half-and-half cream

Ginger Spiced Coffee — 1 serving coffee, 1 small piece finely chopped crystallized ginger, 1 cinnamon stick

Cafe Borgia — 1 cup coffee, 1 cup hot chocolate, 1 shot cream, sprinkle of grated orange peels

Chocolate Mint Truffle(for the non-coffee drinker) – 1 cup hot chocolate, 2 chocolate coated mint candies topped with 1 tablespoon whipped topping and 1 fresh mint sprig

Espresso Martini — 1 shot espresso cooled to room temperature, 1 shot premium vodka, 1 splash liqueur in flavor of your choice (try amaretto, Irish creme, Godiva chocolate or any favorite), garnish with 3 whole espresso beans

Mexican Coffee — your favorite brewed coffee, 2 cups whipped topping gently mixed with ¼ teaspoon nutmeg and ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

French Vanilla Coffee– your favorite brewed coffee, equal portion of milk heated to scalding temperature, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cinnamon stick, sweetener to taste

If you are hosting a winter party and feeling a little adventurous, you may want to try a festive twist on the usual coffee and eggnog choices. Try this Betty Crocker recipe for 16 servings of Cappuccino Eggnog:

Ingredients — 6 eggs, slightly beaten; 2/3 cup table sugar; 1/8 teaspoon salt; 5 cups milk; 2 teaspoons vanilla extract; 2 cups hot espresso; 1 cup coffee liqueur or brandy; 2 cups heavy whipped cream; 2 tablespoons brown sugar; ground cinnamon

Directions — Stir together eggs, granulated sugar and salt in a Dutch oven pan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over low heat 15 to 20 minutes, stirring constantly, just until mixture coats a metal spoon; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Stir together coffee and liqueur. Gradually stir coffee mixture into egg mixture; keep warm. Just before serving, beat whipping cream and brown sugar in chilled large bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff. Gently stir 2 cups of the whipped cream into egg mixture. Pour into mugs. Top with dollops of remaining whipped cream. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve immediately!

Readers of online articles are seeking solutions to problems. They want relevant practical information so they can make a decision about something. That decision may be to buy a product, try a service, or just a decision to seek more information before they make a final decision. Your article content has to inspire a reader to action. It has to inspire them to click through to your affiliate site where they fine the solution to their situation or problem.

A “call to action” article is one that presents information in a logical manner that causes a reader to do something. This logical progression of information can lead to a click through from the article to your website. In essence, that is the kind of action desired by affiliate marketers. You want a reader to connect with you through the article. You want them so intrigued by your content that they seek to learn more.

You have to interest them to the point where they want to take action to get the rest of the information they need. That information is on your website where you can begin the actual selling process. Everything prior to the click through to your site is pre-selling.

How do you get a reader to take the action you desire? You do it by defining a particular problem they can relate to on their terms. You then get them antsy about a solution to that problem. You let them know how your solution can save them time, money, and effort. You show them what rewards they can gain from the solution. When you provide all of this to a reader in your articles, they will seek you out continually. They have to; you are a provider of solutions; why would they continue to look elsewhere when you’re the answer. You just provide enough good, timely, relevant information in your article to drive them to your site where they can complete their quest.

Let’s pretend your affiliate product is high quality, espresso-cappuccino machines. You know the kind. They make creamy espresso coffee and ultra-frothy cappuccinos. You know your affiliate model is top-of-the-line. You know there are many counterfeits per se on the market posing as high quality machines. You know consumers get frustrated when they fork out money for a machine that promises great coffee concoctions but delivers used dishwater type results.

There’s your article. Your article about espresso-cappuccino machines will focus on what makes a great coffee beverage of those types. It will not be a sales letter promoting your product. It will be a quality informational article. It will have lots of info about kinds of machines that will give them the coffee results they desire. You will show them in your article why inferior machines cannot produce the results they want. You will point out to them that it’s a waste of money to purchase those types of machines. You will also point out that the time taken to prepare a cup with less-than-spectacular results is a waste of their time and energy.

You will then propose a solution in your article. You will tell them that only high-quality machines with certain features can produce the taste, creaminess, and frothiness desired in espressos and cappuccinos. Of course, these are all features of your affiliate product. However, remember, you’re not publicizing your product in the article. You’re just stating what quality machines consist of. At the end of the article will be links back to where you and your affiliate product are. Where do you think the reader who found a solution to the problem of dishwater espresso and cappuccino is going to go? He or she is heading your way because of your intelligent, logical article.

Define a problem in your articles, and then get readers interested in a solution to the problem. Show them where they can find a solution that will save them money, time and effort. Make your article flow in an interesting way so that they enjoy reading it. Have your links in place. Then pour yourself an espresso or cappuccino, and watch the traffic and sales come your way.

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew ‘n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug

You may be having a coffee maker at home, but you may still want to know the different types of coffee makers available today. You may want to try the latest one or your old coffee maker is no more in working condition and you may want to replace it. There are hundreds of types of coffee makers in the market and choosing the one that suits you is made easy with this article.

Before going for a new coffee maker you should be clear with the reasons to purchase it. It could be because you are a coffee addict and you need 10 cups every day or you may want to go for a smaller, single serve coffee maker? Do you want a coffee maker having a built in grinder so that you can grind your own beans? Do you want foam or options for espresso and cappuccino? Or, are you looking for a cheap coffee maker which makes coffee as quickly as possible? You need to answer the above questions before going to find a new coffee maker.

Obviously, the most familiar type of coffee maker is the “Automatic Drip”. Here you need to put water either in the back or side of the coffee maker, put in a filter, fill it with coffee and then press the start button. It is a user friendly coffee maker and hence it is very familiar in the market. This can prepare just one or more cups at a time. The only thing you need to think about is the type of coffee you want to put into it. You can get quality coffee beans grounded from the store and add some flavors you like such as hazelnut, vanilla and cinnamon.

“Manual Drip” is the second most standard type of coffee maker. This is similar to automatic drip but here you need to heat up and pour the water manually, into the holder where the coffee filter is filled with coffee sits. Once it is drained into the pot your job is done and these can also make either single cup or up to 12 cups but aren’t usually used commercially. People who are into fishing, hunting and camping, choose this as it is convenient to carry along and you can heat the water according to your needs. If you want a cup of coffee at any moment you can use a stove, the campfire or even a hot car engine.

For people who know exactly what they like, Espresso and Cappuccino machines are more effective. They are very expensive when compared to other normal coffee makers. Depending upon the type of machine, coffee makers utilize pressure, foam, froth and milk to prepare coffee. Nowadays, these types of machines are fast moving and are more affordable than ever before.

Apart from these, there are numerous types of coffee makers which may attract you. If you look around, you will find the outmoded percolators, vacuum brewers, French presses and many more are available, both on-line as well as with the local dealer.

When it comes to making espresso machines, there are few companies that can compete with the products made by Krups.  Their espresso machines are sleek, stylish, and easy to operate.  Ranging in price from under $100 to more than $2000, there is a good chance that Krups has an espresso machine to fit your needs and your budget.  So which Krups espresso machine should you go with?

With so many espresso machines to choose one, and with such a variety of prices, this is definitely a decision that requires research and consideration.  No worries though, we have taken care of that for you.  In all, Krups offers four categories of espresso machines: fully automatic espresso machines, combination machines, pump machines, and steam machines.  Read on and choose for yourself.

Fully automatic espresso machines – The two most popular machines in this category are the Krups XP9000 and the Krups XP7230 compact automatic.  Both come in at over $1000, with the XP9000 coming in at a price of just over $2100.  The more expensive of the two machines features an option to choose the strength of your coffee, as well as the option to program the amount of coffee dispensed.  The second model is smaller than the higher priced one and has fewer features, but still gives customers the ability to customize various settings.

Pump espresso machines – The Krups XP4030 and the XP4050 are the two most popular pump espresso machines made by Krups.  In terms of price, the XP4030 is $100 cheaper, but still has most of the features of the XP4050.  The XP4050 is more expensive because it is programmable, and comes with an additional “auto-cappuccino” feature that guarantees users the perfect froth on their drinks.

Steam espresso machines – The most affordable Krups espresso machines are a part of the steam espresso machine line.  With both under $100, these espresso machines definitely offer great quality at a more than affordable price.  The Krups steam espresso machine is an affordable option to the more expensive Krups machines, mainly because it is constructed with plastic.  The Krups XP1500 is an affordable option as well, especially considering it works as a combination machine, allowing users to switch from coffee to espresso.

Combination espresso machines – Combination espresso machines do exactly what their name implies – they make a combination of espresso and good old-fashioned coffee.  The three most popular combination machines include the XP2070, the XP2010, and the XP1500. The XP2010 and the XP2070 are both pump espresso machines, while the XP1500 is a steam espresso machine.  Of the three, the XP1500 is the lowest-priced, at under $100.  All three are generally the same size, and the main difference between the two centers on the materials from which they are made.  The XP2070 is programmable, unlike the other two models.

The Krups line of espresso machines is not without problems or issues.  Most of the problems however, seem to center on spillage, poor frothing, and weak coffee – all common problems associated with most espresso machines.
